Failing a bit at a time, till I stop

Its already midway through February. February 14th to be exact. Great. I suck. (No I am not going to talk about Valentines Day). I NEVER made a resolution for February! Ugh. Thought about it. Didn't do it. I wish I had more of that "go getter" personality. I suck. But moving on...

Lets look at how I did in January.

Not very well.

At all.

If you remember, my goal was to drink a green smoothie every day. Well that didn't happen. I don't really know why...it wasn't that hard and I actually like them. I did go out of town....and there were just those day when it just did not happen. You know the days. I maybe drank 20 green smoothies out of the 31 days. Percentage wise that is like a D+. Not so good. At all. I've continued to drink them though (cause I PROMISE they are soo GOOD). However I reallly wanted one of the side effects of drinking them to be weight loss. That did not happen. At all. I'm actually beginning to be very discouraged. It has been 3 months since we started CrossFit and about a month and a half since I've started watching my diet etc and I have yet to lose a pound, an inch, NADA. My clothes don't fit looser (cause I am big on not looking at the scale, but rather think that you should go by inches/clothes etc). This is the same case for Peggy and our Mom. Sigh. Obviously we are doing something wrong. Eating out too much...eating too much in general....eating the most delicious processed/fried/sugary foods that we can get our hands on. Yep pretty sure that is why we are still the same size. I JUST DON'T HAVE ANY SELF CONTROL. none. I don't know how to say "no". I don't know how to WANT to lose weight MORE than I WANT that Krispy Kreme doughnut. (Seriously sounds so good right now). I don't know how to toughen up mentally. For me that is hard and at this moment feels so impossible.

So since there are only 14 more days in this wonderfully short month of February maybe I'll try something that I think will be impossible. Because its only 14 days. Just two short weeks.

No grains
No fast food
No sugar
No fried __________
No dairy

Pretty much this is the Paleo diet that I want to do, but I honestly have no faith in myself for actually accomplishing it. So lets see if I can do it for just 2 weeks...starting tomorrow....because really I don't think that starting a diet on a holiday is actually the smartest thing that you could do.

I'll let you know how it goes by mid-March ;)

Angie

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Cleaning turns me from...

Seriously cleaning is NO FUN!! Its only fun when you are consistently organized, key word being CONSISTENTLY!! Anyone who knows me knows that I constantly struggle to be clean. I'm not disgusting or anything just a little cluttered. I've tried everything, pinned everything, printed everything , have started and not finished almost every "cleaning schedule" out there! I'm like the yo-yo cleaner! I get my house spotless and try as I might within a few days later its back to chaos! Does anyone else feel like that? So, all that being said I have a found one way for me to consistently clean and not feel deprived of "me time" (while the kiddos are napping) and it is a...

TIMER!!!

Yep, as childish as it seems this by far the most effective way I clean. I clean at 20/10 intervals, 20 minutes cleaning 10 minutes doing whatever, and IT WORKS!! So, on any given day that's what you'll see me doing in the afternoons, running back and forth to the kitchen timer. I realize that for most this would drive you crazy and you would rather get it all done in one shot, but for me the procrastinator its the only way to go! Maybe someday I will be the organized mom that I dream about but for now the timer is ringing and my time is up!

nem-es-sis

My biggest nemesis right now is this stupid pull up bar. Well not just this one but any pull up bar. I cannot.. CANNOT do a pull up to save my life. And for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to sign up for a 100 day pull up challenge at my Crossfit gym.  Angie and I signed up together, but she is by far way better at them then me. This challenge started 27 days ago and goes like this:
day 1: 1 pull up
day 2: 2 pull ups
.....
.....
.....
day 99: 99 pull ups
day 100: 100 pull ups
In all we will do about five THOUSAND pull ups in 100 days. Isn't that insane? Seriously only crazy people would sign up for something like this...and now I want to quit.

BUSY BUSY BUSY

This week is CRAZY!!! A good friend of mine is getting married and baptized into our church this coming Saturday. They are kinda strapped for cash right now so I offered to help and give them a wedding reception!! Now we don't have any money either right now (who does), so this is going to be a collaboration of my wedding, my sisters wedding and friends stuff. So far everything has been going according to plan, we are just down to the final days. I had some of my close friends over today to help with the DIY wedding decor and we finished YEAH, but there is still so much to do! I'm glad we finished and I may be happy but its definitely at the cost of my home!!

YIKES!!!

opps!

I kinda lied.. I told my boss I wasn't feeling well so I could make it to my Crossfit class in time!

(but in my defense I have worked well over 40hrs this week and it was only 20mins early)

Now I'm off to get my bummed kicked! Happy Friday!

An Oldie but Goodie

I was going through my old blog, and I came across this...

This is the current picture at our new home

This was one of my very first redo! I dry brushed everything and loved how worn and old looking it turned out. Sad thing is... its not comfortable AT ALL!!! Its sturdy but doesn't feel like it when you sit down. "Oh CRAP! I'm gonna bust this chair" is NOT what you want people thinking when they sit down in your living room. Either I find I was to fix this problem or its adios to this pretty little chair.

Everything But The Kitchen Sink Cookies

For lack of a better name, these cookies really do have just about everything in them. I was in the mood for something super sweet and full of flavor. I have to come clean...I am a flavor junkie! Seriously the stronger the better. I tend to have a heavy hand in anything I am cooking or baking. These cookies were just right. Here's your line up...

The only difference being that you need to use Baking Soda NOT Baking Powder. Next you most definitely need to go find some helpers..

Are they not the CUTEST!!!! The stash binky is compliments of Peggy. Maybe we can get her to do a free printable template on here (hint hint)!

After you finish mixing scooping and baking you end up with these delectible chewy bites...

Everything but the kitchen sink cookies

2 1/4 cups flour
2tsp baking soda
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup white chocolate chips, halved
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, halved
1 cup toffee bits
1 cup chewy caramel, roughly chopped
1 cup mini marshmallows
1 cup pecans, roughly chopped

Preheat oven t0 375. Mix flour and baking soda in a separate bowl. Combine 3/4 cup butter and sugars in your mixer and beat until creamy. In a double broiler melt 1/8 cup butter with 1/2 cup white chocolate chips. Add to sugar and butter mixture. Repeat with 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips and add to mixer. While mixer is on low add the eggs and vanilla. Continue to mix and slowly add your flour and baking soda until combined. Add all of your extras i.e. toffee bits, caramel, marshmallows, pecans. Scoop onto greased baking sheet and bake 9-11 minutes.
