Have you ever done something really stupid and thought ‘wow I am such an idiot!’ Well I had one of those moments the other day and man did I feel silly, especially since my boss and a few clients were my audience.

glasses 'pre' melting

At work I get to teach cooking classes and as I was bending over to put some potatoes back into a 450 degree oven I felt my glasses slip from where they were tucked into my shirt. But when I looked down I didn’t see them anywhere so I shut the oven, stood up and thought ‘that’s strange where are my glasses?’ So I reopened the oven bent down and looked in and way way in the back at the very bottom where my glasses! And in my head I’m like ‘holy crap they are melting! What do I do??? What do I say?’ So I very quietly without trying to draw too much attention grab a long metal spoon and start trying to reach them. Mind you this oven is pipin' hot and my boss is looking at me like I am crazy. So I finally get them and my clients look over at me and say ‘I think they melted a little’ in which I say ‘oh that’s fine they will cool off’ and sheepishly walk out of the kitchen.

I felt really dumb and now get to wear glasses each day that are partly melted on the ends and around the rims! Lucky me.
